Titan strengthens its South American presence with new Wheels agreement with Vale
International engineering group, Titan Europe Plc ('Titan Europe') is pleased to
announce that the Company has been awarded approved supplier status with one of the largest global mining companies in the world, Vale (formally CVRD) of Brazil which is also the world's largest iron ore miner.
The prestigious wheels agreement, which commences in May 2008, is to supply wheels and provide after-sales service to Vale's activities throughout Brazil; sales by Titan Europe are expected to start at around US$1.0 million per annum.
John Wheelwright, Commercial Director, Titan Europe commented:
"This is a significant achievement by our South American teams led by Hector
Ramirez, the Managing Director of our Chilean and Peruvian facilities. It also
clearly demonstrates Titan Europe's commitment to the mining sector and our
strategy to provide customers' product solutions and after-sales service local
to their needs.
"It is particularly pleasing that this agreement has been secured as it is
in-line with our plans and expectations to expand the revolutionary Outside
Vertical Mount Wheel (OVM) range to the South American mining market.
"The industry-famous OVM range of large mining wheels has been developed by our trading subsidiary, Titan Wheel & Rims in Australia where it commands a market leading position in that region. The revolutionary OVM design reduces downtime by allowing tyre changes to take place in a fraction of the time than with traditional wheels. This in turn delivers significant cost savings to the mines as well as reducing health & safety risks."
He concluded:
"We are delighted to be working with such a prestigious global company as Vale and I am sure that together we will be able to grow further and increasingly add value to our existing and new customers as we build the partnership over time."
