Titan Steel Wheels receives Queen’s Award for the second year running

Titan Steel Wheels Limited (TSW), a leading manufacturer of wheels for earthmoving machines and mobile cranes, has received recognition from the Queen’s Awards Office for the second consecutive year.

This year, Titan Steel Wheels has been awarded the prestigious accolade “Queen’s Award for Enterprise” in the Innovation category. The award has been given for Titan Steel Wheels’ continuous development of its three-piece integrated-flange wheels for mobile cranes. It is the third time in all that the Company has received this acclaim.

Titan Steel Wheels has invested over £3 million in tools and equipment to produce the IF-three piece wheel. Around 77% of Titan Steel Wheels production is exported from its site in Cookley, near Kidderminster, Worcestershire where TSW employs 450 people.

“This fantastic achievement comes as a result of our renowned technical ability and innovative approach to problem-solving. The three-piece integrated flange wheel was developed by our engineers in the early 1990’s to meet the demand from mobile crane manufacturers who were looking for reduced weight and greater dimensional accuracy for high speed applications. The development of this wheel also recognised the need for improved tyre-life with a flange design that is ‘kinder’ to tyres under heavy load.

“Therefore, this award acts as testimony to the continued efforts of the dedicated, talented and determined workforce at Titan Steel Wheels.

“Winning the Queen’s Award for the second year running clearly demonstrates our current pre-eminence within the sectors we operate in. Through innovation and constant improvement across the various facets of the business, we will continue to build on our solid leading market position.”
